At a TED talk, author of How To Raise An Adult, Julie Lythcott-Haims shared data from her research, which she claims is the longest running longitudinal study. She says that when parents do their part of work, kids tend to internalise that it is okay for others to do their work. But kids who do chores grow up to be more empathetic and don't fear to take on tasks independently.
